Japanese Encephalitis in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Japanese Encephalitis a disease transmitted by mosquito bites, has severely hit Uttar Pradesh and Bihar again. In last two months almost 500 children have reportedly died in the eastern part of the UP and western Bihar and around 4480 people infected.

Flood situation in Uttar Pradesh

The breach in the ring bund at Elgin-Charsadi embankment at River Ghaghra near Barabanki and Gonda districts in Uttar Pradesh on 01st August, 2011 afternoon has affected number of villages in both the districts. There is a risk of situation getting worse in case of heavy rains and high water discharge in the upstream.

Inter-Agency Group, UP has initiated actions on the current situation and has released situation reports and updates. Inter-Agency Multi-Sectoral assessment of the affected areas in both the districts has been conducted by the IAG.
