INFORMATION KNOWLEDGE LEARNING AND MANAGEMENT (IKLM):

• Model District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP), Madhubani: In the model plan 14 Gram Panchayat, 4 block, line departments at district level is selected. The model plan will be prepared with comprehensive use of GIS, GPS and Google Earth base mapping for identifying most vulnerable, hazardous capacities within the area of interest.
• Sphere India NGO Mapping 2011: Sphere India GIS team is developing a integrated map for various IAGs working across the country. The map is developed based on the agencies area of intervention, sectoral intervention.
  
  Upcoming Events:    i. The model DDMP final draft will be shared in the upcoming consultation in Madhunbani in presence of NDMA, SDMA, DDMA, IAG and other stake holders on 21st or 22nd January 2012.    ii. Betthia Model DDMP consultation in collaboration of CARITAS India.
  

TRAINING CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME (TCBP):

• Training organized/facilitated:
  1. Sphere India TCBP facilitated training sessions in different organizations including Red Cross, MSF, ADRA India etc.
  2. Sphere India COO facilitated a Sphere TOT at Indonesia during 27th Nov-2nd Dec, 2011
  3. Facilitated sessions in National Conference entitled “Biological Disaster Management: A step towards building National CBRN Capacity Building & Resilience – The Role of Industry under Public-Private Partnership” organized by NDMA at Hyderabad during 12th-13th December, 2011.
     
     Upcoming Events: Sphere India is organizing a Sphere Training of Trainers from 12th-19th February, 2012 at New Delhi, India. Applications are invited for this ToT till 14th January, 2012.

COLLABORATIVE ADVOCACY:

• With the objective to promote minimum standards for response at State level and priorities identified by Hyogo Framework for Action, Sphere India Collaborative Advocacy organized a series of events at state level in collaboration with the respective State Inter Agency Groups –in Assam on 6th of December 2011, Uttarakhand on 13th and 14th December and Orissa on 19th of December 2011.
• Sphere India collaboratively with NCDHR, Christian Aid, OXFAM and Cordaid organised the “National consultation on Addressing Caste Based Discrimination in Disaster Response” on 14-15 December in New Delhi.
  
  Upcoming Events:     i. Greet and Meet with Corporates on 20th of January 2011 in New Delhi.     ii. Event showcasing the special needs and exclusion of vulnerable groups on 30th of January 2011 in New Delhi.

UNIFIED RESPONSE STRATEGY (URS):

• Joint consultation for Japanese Encephalitis (JE)/ Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and release of IEC material in coordination with State IAG Uttar Pradesh and Gorakhpur District IAG along with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Minister of Health, Uttar Pradesh Government and Plan India.
• Released Information sheet of Cold Wave in Northern India, Situation report on Earthquake in North East States of India, Japanese Encephalitis in UP and Bihar, Tamil Nadu Flash Flood and Early Warning on Green alert for Tropical Cyclone SIX.
